• Conductor of the National High School Flute Choir in Washington, DC in 2002 at the NFA convention.
• Kumer student: First Place Winner in the National MTNA competition in 2002 in Salt Lake City, UT, High School Woodwind category. Also State and Division first place winners.
• Ten former Kumer Studio Duquesne flute majors have gone on to earn doctoral level degrees and teach at the college level.
• From 1 – 5 Kumer Studio student winners in the NFA National High School Flute Choir every year from 1986 – present
• Recent Kumer Studio seniors have received talent based awards to be flute majors at New England Conservatory, Peabody Conservatory, University of Michigan, Berklee School of Music in Boston, Northwestern University, Lawrence University, University of Southern California, Ithaca, Youngstown State, Duquesne, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
• Ten former Kumer Studio students are currently enrolled as music majors throughout the United States.
• Kumer Studio students consistently win local competitions including Music Teachers National Association, the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Side-by-Side program, Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra auditions and concerto competitions, Pittsburgh Youth Symphony auditions, Westmoreland Youth Symphony auditions, and Tuesday Musical Scholarship auditions.
• Created a national flute camp for junior and senior high flutists and team taught with Jim Walker during the summers of 1990, ’91 and ’92 in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Minneapolis, and Ann Arbor.
